Signature Workshop
Signature Workshop
Rejuvenate your writing practice. Whether you’re a seasoned author or a novice, the Celestial Scribes Signature Workshop will help you craft a solid theoretical foundation for your next poem, story, or dream project. Together, we will thoroughly explore the life and works of four luminaries in American letters, and we’ll dive into what they have to say about the evolving role of the female writer. By positioning yourself as a writer contributing to a rich lineage within the Western literary canon, you’ll be able to see your own writing through a new lens and approach your practice in new contexts.
This workshop is perfect for any writer or reader who enjoys lecture-style literary analysis coupled with the conversational feel of a podcast. Here we bring together craft theory, biographical insight, and comparative analysis to answer the following questions:
What is the condition of the 21st-century female writer?
How can we use our unique feelings, experiences, and insights as women to enrich our writing?
How do we move through relationships, space, and time and incorporate this into writing with concision and honesty?
You’ll have the opportunity to read, analyze, and discuss great works with other writers every week. You will also be given the option to partake in partner workshops, where you’ll receive detailed, thoughtful feedback on a project of your choosing. Together we will go over the basics of writing workshop styles, feedback writing, and editing. Finally, we will explore what integrating these new ideas into your writing practice actually looks like. Each participant will partake in self-reflection, writing practice via group and individual writing exercises, and receiving/providing support to other writers through our online community platform.
Are you excited yet? Because we are. Here’s more information on how it works.
There are two ways to access and attend this workshop.
Our synchronous option allows for real-time meetings via Zoom, where you’ll be placed into a cohort with other women writers. Tune in weekly to be part of an engaging, intellectually stimulating discussion group as we dissect and seek to understand the work of literary geniuses such as Toni Morrison, Joan Didion, and more.
The synchronous workshop allows for you to submit your work to be read and critiqued by a workshop partner, so you can get real and relevant feedback on your writing. You will be assigned a workshop partner during your first week and keep in touch with them throughout, following the outlined submission schedule. You will also have lifetime access to a Discord server with other writers from your cohort in order to talk about the readings and build community.
The asynchronous workshop is built to allow you ultimate freedom and flexibility. Access workshop lectures and content from anywhere, at your convenience. With the asynchronous workshop, you can set your own pace for reading and learning. All the journaling prompts and writing exercises will also be available to you via our learning platform.
